Oncology

Program Objective:

Through its Oncology program, AMRI aims to commercialize the use of ALB109564(a), its tubulin inhibitor compound currently in Phase 1 testing. AMRI believes this compound has significant benefits over existing tubulin inhibitors in the same class and has strong potential to advance the effectiveness of cancer treatment in humans.

Current Status:

On August 18, 2008, AMRI announced  the initiation of its Phase I study of ALB109564(a) , a novel tubulin inhibitor designed to kill cancer cells by preventing cell division.  The study, which is ongoing, involves intravenous administration of ALB109564(a)  to cancer patients with advanced solid tumors. Designed to evaluate the compound's safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetic profile it will also document affects on tumor growth.

Promising results from the first 16-months of the dose-escalation study (through December 2009) were published in May 2010 (abstract.asco.org/alb), and indicated good tolerability and preliminary evidence of clinical activity.
