Dr. Trova was recruited in August 1995 to Albany Molecular Research, Inc. as Assistant Director of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Trova was responsible for directing the research efforts of a group of medicinal chemists (4-8 scientists/technicians) who were involved with a number of projects. Dr. Trova was promoted in August 1996 to Director of Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry with significantly increased responsibilities (20-25 scientists/technicians). In March of 1998, he was promoted to Vice President, Medicinal Chemistry and then in August 2000, another promotion led him to Senior Vice President.
Projects of current interest under his direction are in the areas of cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, diabetes, CNS disorders, oncology, and ocular disorders. Areas of research interest to Dr. Trova include asymmetric synthesis, heterocycles, medicinal chemistry, and natural product synthesis. His current responsibilities include management of the Discovery Services of AMRI in the United States, Hungary and Singapore.
A member of the American Chemical Society since 1982, Dr. Trova is a member of the Organic and Medicinal Chemistry divisions within the ACS. He is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences, and the American Peptide Society.
